What is Hispacoop?
HISPACOOP gathers and coordinates the consumer cooperatives ("consumer co-op") of Spain. It also represents them before institutions at national and international forums. It acts both as a consumers' organization and as an organization cooperative-managerial.
WHO IS PART OF HISPACOOP?
Are part of HISPACOOP la Federación de Cooperativas de Consumo Andaluzas, Federació de Cooperatives de Consumidors i Usuaris de Catalunya, Federación de Cooperativas de Consumo de Euskadi, Federación de Cooperativas de Consumo de la Comunidad Valenciana y la Federación de Cooperativas Eléctricas de la Comunidad Valenciana. Some other cooperatives are directly affiliated to Hispacoop when no federation exists in their region.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
- To represent and defend the interests of the consumer co-op.
- To defend, inform and educate consumers; to collaborate with other consumers' organizations.
- To facilitate an increasing competitiveness of the cooperatives, especially with educational projects.
- To support and develop the values and principles of the consumers' cooperativism.
- To propitiate the concentration of resources and the managerial collaboration at both the national and the European level.

THE INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATION
As a representative and a defender of the consumer co-op's interests, Hispacoop is acting actively within organizations that dedicate their action to the same aims. Moreover, it mediates before several national and European institutions.
Hispacoop is an active member of:
 Confederación Empresarial de la Economía Social (CEPES)
Eurocoop, European Community of Consumer Cooperatives.

Hispacoop takes part in the activities of some bodies of the central administration:
Instituto Nacional de Consumo (National Institute of Consumption): Hispacoop takes part in its development and in the activities arising from it, collaborating in the Institute's initiatives and suggesting new actions.
Dirección General de Fomento de la Economía Social (General Head Office for the Promotion of Social Economy): Hispacoop is part of the Council for the Promotion of Social Economy.
Furthermore, new initiatives are always welcome in Hispacoop. |
